"My Beliefs"

Resumes and biographies do a decent job of listing what a person’s done but may not effectively communicate who a person is. So, I’ve fashioned a few statements describing my purposes, values, passions and foundational or “life” scripture verses in an attempt to introduce myself and paint a picture of who I am and what I believe.

Purposes are the reasons you exist, the objectives or desired results of your life.

What are my purposes?

  • To love God with all my heart.
  • To love and nurture my wife Rebecca and daughters Phoebe and Chelsea.
  • To lead people to Christ and to assist them in becoming His disciples.
  • To equip, mentor and release influencers within the Church and our communities.

Values are the principles - ethics or modes of operation by which you choose to live.

What are my values?

  • Authenticity: Who I am in public is who I am in private.
  • Relationships: Community with others is where abundant life occurs.
  • Being faith-filled: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
  • Commitment: My motivation is to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant…”
  • Compassion: I am an ambassador of God’s love, called to care and love all people.
  • Excellence: I make every effort to do all things as unto Him.
  • The health of my family is priority over any other endeavor I may have.
  • God’s word is the standard for living a balanced and healthy - God pleasing life.
  • A tithe of my salary belongs to the Lord and I give generously.

Passions are emotions that make life exciting and fun and that compel you to take action.

What am I passionate about?

In ministry:

  • Generation X (20 to 40 something’s), their kids and the youth of our nation.
  • “Cell” or small group ministry.
  • Discovering the specific role the local church plays in the community she’s planted.
  • Missions and short-term missionary work: local and abroad.
  • Dynamic celebration or worship services.

In ministry:

  • Experiencing the outdoors, especially the beach and surfing.
  • Learning new things, meeting new people, going to new places.
  • Laughter…

“Life verses” are specific scripture verses on which you choose to build your life.
